Port-to-port is the leanest shipping incoterm — we handle the ocean freight leg only, from a UK port of your choice to your destination port. You arrange UK delivery to port and destination collection from port yourself. It is the standard for trade buyers, car dealers, freight forwarders re-routing cargo, and shippers with their own UK transport.
What's included in port-to-port
UK port receival and handling (THC at origin), UK HMRC export clearance, vessel space, lashing, ocean freight to destination port, Bill of Lading and tracking.
What you arrange yourself
UK delivery to the loading port — typically your own trade-plate driver or transporter. Destination port collection, clearance, duty and final delivery — typically your own destination agent.
Pricing
Port-to-port is typically £100–£250 cheaper than door-to-port on the same lane, because UK collection is removed from the quote.
Best UK loading ports
Southampton (RoRo & container), Felixstowe (container), Sheerness (RoRo), Tilbury (RoRo & container), Bristol Avonmouth (RoRo), Liverpool, Grimsby & Immingham, London Gateway.
Trade buyer accounts
Volume shippers (10+ vehicles/month) qualify for trade account pricing with consolidated weekly invoicing, dedicated coordinator and priority booking.
Insurance
Port-to-port marine cover starts at UK port receival and ends at destination port discharge. Lower premium than door-to-door.
