Door-to-port is the most popular shipping incoterm for UK exports — we handle everything from your UK address through to the destination port quay, where you (or your nominated local clearing agent) take over for customs clearance, duty payment and final delivery. It's the standard incoterm for individuals shipping a single car to family abroad, expats relocating with a vehicle, and trade exporters who already have an agent at destination.
What's included in door-to-port
UK door collection (any mainland address, trade-plate or transporter), delivery to UK loading port, port receival and handling charges, UK HMRC export clearance, vessel space and freight, lashing and stowage, Bill of Lading, and milestone tracking to arrival at destination port.
- UK collection from your address
- All UK port handling and security fees
- Export clearance under our EORI
- Ocean freight to destination port
- Original Bill of Lading issued
What's NOT included (and is paid locally)
Destination port handling (typically THC — Terminal Handling Charge), import duty and VAT, destination clearance agent fees, port storage if delayed, and onward delivery from port to final address.
When door-to-port is right for you
Door-to-port works best when you have a trusted local agent or family member at destination who can collect the vehicle. It is also the standard for trade buyers who already have established clearing relationships.
Switching to door-to-door
If you don't have an agent at destination, upgrade to our door-to-door service and we handle the full chain through to your final address. Available on most major lanes.
Insurance
Door-to-port marine cover protects the cargo from UK collection through to destination port arrival. Onward cover to final delivery requires door-to-door insurance.
Pricing
Door-to-port is the rate quoted on our quote tool — typically £950–£3,500 depending on vehicle and destination.
