UK Customs Clearance Service — HMRC Export Entries for Vehicles & Cargo

Every vehicle or cargo container leaving the UK must be declared to HMRC before it can be loaded onto a vessel. The declaration sets out the cargo HS code, value, weight, destination, exporter EORI and incoterm. HMRC issues a Movement Reference Number (MRN) which the port uses to release the cargo to the vessel.

For every UK-registered vehicle we ship, we tear off and submit the V5C/4 export slip to DVLA notifying permanent export. This removes the vehicle from the UK record and stops your road tax liability. DVLA confirmation typically arrives by post 2–3 weeks after departure.

For vehicles shipping to EU destinations from a UK trader stock, we handle NOVA (Notification of Vehicle Arrival) reversal where applicable, EUR1 preferential origin certificates for trade-agreement countries, and T1/T2 transit declarations for through-EU movements.

We issue Chambers of Commerce-stamped Certificates of Origin (CO) for destinations that require them — typically Middle East and West African countries. Some markets accept self-issued CO; others require chamber stamping.

While we handle UK clearance in-house, destination clearance is performed by local agents in each country. We provide a vetted clearing agent contact at every major destination port and remain in contact through to vehicle release.
